The client’s end goal was to develop a social media app similar to Instagram. The main feature of the application was Stories. As we all know stories are some kind of ephemeral content which will disappear after twenty-four hours. When the user uploads a photo and that will automatically get removed from the system after twenty-four hours. Also, users can follow each other and share their daily updates through the application. Another notable feature was users can save favorite stories of their friends before they get disappeared.
There are numerous challenges to tackle when developing a social media application. The most important factors we had to consider were namely, how to scale the user base, the legal side of data protection, how to restrict the inappropriate content (if the users are under the age of eighteen), security level of the application and how to utilize the available resources to complete such robust project within the given deadlines. Moreover, the customer did not have a proper plan on how to commercialize the application.
As usual, after having our first meeting with the client, we realize that the project should divide into milestones. For the initial stage, we explained the customer that we could come up with a MVP model and shift that to the production. Thereafter, depending on the user behavior we can enhance the app by introducing new features. Together we reduce the number of features and developed only the main functions with a very attractive UI. Finally, our dedicated team was able to help the client to lay the foundation to his billion-dollar business idea and to make it a reality.
